St Kitts Batik

I have seen pictures of Batik fabric made on the island of St Kitts. Has anyone purchased any of these Batiks? If so, how is the quality of the fabric? Have you used any of these fabrics in your quilts? If so, pictures please.

Purchased and/or seen the fabric while on a cruise or land vacation to St Kitts. Please comment if you have seen the fabric I am referring to. Thanks.

I visited the "shop" where this was being manufactured while on the island of St. Kitts many years ago. They used wax to create the pattern and as I recall, it was mentioned that some of the wax might remain. I would wash in very hot water before using for quilting. I usually don't pew ash my fabric but this would be an exception.

Terry, thanks. The fabric look beautiful in the pictures I saw. I also wonder about the quality of the fabric. When I was in Jamaica I bought a shirt and skirt and it almost fell apart after it was washed.

As I recall, the fabric had a good "hand" and was very expensive. I was not a quilter then sooo maybe I need to go back to St. Kitts. We were on a Scuba diving trip at the time but I have given that up in favor of quilting..... not a cheaper hobby but a safer one!!!!
