Yes, Lehman's has the Argo starch but it's $7 a box plus shipping. I paid about $3 at the grocery store when it was available. I sent an email asking if it was a warehouse supply buy out or still being manufactured.

How do you ladies use this on quilt fabric?

I did read somewhere that you should wash your quilt if you have "starched" it. Some years ago, I also read that if there is starch in clothes that microbes will eat it and leave holes in your clothing. I did bring this up as a question to the Board some time ago but did not receive answers.

Does anyone on the Board have any viable information about starch as a food source and microbes? Thanks!

I don't think it has anything to do with microbes. Starch is made from organic products -- usually corn, but it can also be made from rice and potatoes. This is "food" for certain bugs. Whether or not storage of fabric with starch in it attracts bugs seems to depend on where you live as well as on how the fabric is stored. A damp basement or a tropical, humid climate are likely to have bugs who like to eat starch. I've never had a problem, but we air-condition the house during the hot season and we don't have any dampness in the house.

Use the "search" option at the top right hand side of the board and type in "starch"; you should find a lot of threads that discuss the uses of starch for quilting!

Argo is more difficult to find because there are fewer customers who want it. (Starch eating, one form of pica, is dangerous because the eater replaces nutritious foods with starch AND a one pound box of starch is about 3500 calories. The body reacts to the cornstarch much in the same way as it does to corn syrup. It experiences a carb rush and then a craving for more. Not really different than chugging sodas or quarts of sweet tea, is it?)

Mice and certain insects are attracted to starched items. Starch is food.

Just ordered 6 bottles from my local IGA...should last me a little while. Hopefully now it will come in next week...crossing fingers :)

Just to be on the safe side a went to Walmart and picked up a few more jugs... now doesn't that sound like a starch addict !
