My dh's gm made a stack of fan-shaped pieces about 100 years ago, and he would like for me to use them in a quilt, but I am not sure how or whether there are enough to use for a quilt. "Any ideas? I have only made one baby quilt and those squares were of embroidered Peter Rabbit figures, so I could just stichthrough the seams of the squares to "quilt" the designs.

I do want to learn but I am an "older beginner" so I must learn something easy!
thanks, gramfel

A picture of some of the pieces might help. You could applique them onto a square on point (AKA a diamond with right angles) and attach them with some sashing

Here are a few ideas and how to put the block together.

Whatever you do, I'm sure your husband will love it. He has to be a nice man to care about quilt pieces his grandma made.

If you really don't have enough pieces to make a quilt, you could either make a wall hanging or buy some repro. fabric and add a few more blocks.

I also want to suggest a wall hanging and you may want to tea dye some muslin to make that look old. Look at quilt history books for a design that she may have used. Good luck....
