I'm making the stacked coins baby quilt pattern shown here:
http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/02/...aby-quilt.html

in brights from my stash. I can't decide how to quilt it though; all over meandering, or SITD around the coins, with a design of some sort in the white space? And since I have bright primary coins with white background, what color thread? White? Variegated? If variegated, light or darker?

Can you tell I'm indecisive about this? LOL.

Varigated darker threads and meandering in the coins, some kind of viney quilting in the white areas with white or a paler colored thread.

I made a stacked coin quilt and quilted it with a wave in cream colored thread. It turned out nice!

This is the first quilt I have ever quilted on a Long Arm. It took some getting used to but was fun!

I would meander with variegated thread.

I made my first coin quilt out of yellow and blues. For some crazy reason, (maybe being a new quilter and not knowing better) I decided to quilt it with straight lines about 1/2 inch apart!! It took forever to finish that quilt! It was only a lapsize, thank goodness.

I made another coin quilt and just quilted it in the ditch. I haven't got the hang of FMQ yet.

No idea for quilting, ones suggested are very nice and should work out for you.

Have to thank you for posting the Moda directions. My sister wants me to 'teach' her how to make a coins quilt in crib size but I was clueless about how much fabric she needed to buy, now I have all the info I need. Thanks, May in Jersey

I would take a leaf out of Judy Martin's book and the way she has her log cabins quilted (ie SITD or straight lines in the dark and freeform, eg feathers in the light.) I think this differentiates nicely between the two areas and enhances the design. So I would SITD down either side of the stacks of coins and between every few, depending on what your batting requires, then do a freeform, viney type thing (technical term  !) in the sashing. :-D

PS - I'd use a blending thread, possibly variegated for the SITD and a white for the sashing.

Did you up size this to a queen sized quilt? I like the pattern and want to make it in a queen sized version.
