Stacked coins

I'm thinking about making a stacked coins quilt for my granddaughter for graduation. I have seen the stacked coins done in baby size and wonder if, when you're making it bigger, do you make the "coins" bigger or just make more rows to make it bigger?

Thanks!

either way, no wrong way to quilt... check out your supply of scraps and see which would be better for your needs...maybe that makes a difference...it will be pretty either way...

Thank you! Guess I'll just see what I think works best. Nice to know it'll work either way.

It is a very adaptable quilt pattern. My avatar is one version. I added a panel of a marbled fabric between my rows of coins.

Take a look at the 'google image' search I did, lots of variations. A great and easy way to use up scraps. :)

My sister made several coin quilts, small and large, using 5" square packs. She cut each square in half to make each of the coins 2 1/2 x 5. She just made the strips of coins longer for the bigger quilts.

I purchased 5 batiks in green, blue, turquoise, purple and a yellow. I think I'm going to use these. Thanks for all your help! I WILL post the finished product. I could not BELIEVE the variations on google!

Anything goes...

Have you seen the staggered stacked coins? Those are my favorite! They keep your eye moving around, to see where the stack might be about to topple...

I bookmarked this stacked coins quilt from the board, I love the dark colored sashing and batik fabrics.
