Stained glass applique wall hanging question!
 

yesterday went to a garage sale of friend. She had a box of yarn she wanted to get rid of and kept telling me to buy it. i don't crochet as much anymore and i can't knit with a darn! i ended up buying it cuz there was this wall hanging kit in it (she made sure she pointed it out to me when i paid her) of pansies - it says stained glass applique. it is a 19 x 19 square - all materials included !!!! looking at directions it says to use a permanent black pen /marker (?) to mark the lines of the pansies to get the stained glass look! can this be right? it seems to go against anything a quilter would do! btw i don't applique either!

I so agree with you. Almost sounds like more of a "craft pattern direction" than a quilting direction. In light of the fact you do not do applique, I might be tempted to use steam a seam on the the pansy, fuse it to a piece of black fabric, then cut out the black fabric a little larger then raw edge applique both on the the background.
