stains
I have a quilt that I started hand quilting. I had to stop working on it and stored it rolled on the quilt frame rail. Mice got to it and ate part of the border which I have fixed. The mice also left stains. My question is how do I remove the stains? Do you have any ideas other than Dawn and Shout? Thanks for the help.

I have heard about Retro clean for old linens and it might help.

Where do you think I can find it?

My LQS stocks it but some place like Connectingthreads should have it?

Do you mean removing stains after the quilt is finished and bound? I think regular washing should take care of that. Here is the link to Retro Clean: http://www.retroclean.com . I think I would try regular washing first, though.

Yes I have finished quilting and I'm working on the binding now. Thanks for telling me about Retro Clean. I'll get some just in case Shout and washing don't work.

I tried numerous things but I was told mouse pee does NOT come out. Good Luck. I am not sure how you could wash the quilt if it isn't quilted.

I Googled and found several sites that recommend treating with an organic stain remover (such as Biz) before washing. Here is one: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/cl...-clothing.html

I used retro clean on an old baby quilt before I patched it up for my cousin. It worked great. I soaked the quilt overnight in the bathtub in the retroclean solution. A good way to do it if your quilt is not yet finished. Good luck.

I have finished quilting and I'm binding it now. It will be finished before I wash it. Thanks for all the suggestions.
