Star Spin Pattern

Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial on the Star Spin Pattern? I saw a beautiful Christmas quilts listed on the board a while back? Have questions and would like to see someone putting it together. Thanks for you help.

The Star Spin is a commercial pattern. I have done quite a bit of searching to see if I could find any version of it in the Public Domain. So far, I have had no luck.

The closest I could get was a block that could be adapted to use for a top.

Here is a source for the commercial pattern for a top:

The book Hand Quilt without a Frame by Barbara Schaffeld has pages of detail instructions how to make this pattern. I've seen many variations of the pattern that frames the middle star but the pattern in the book is my favorite. The book is out of print but sometimes on Ebay.

I did mine from a tutorial on this board. It was posted by someone from Russia (?)--anyway the info had been translated into English. Her pictures are good and I was able to make mine following her directions. I cannot find the tutorial, but I have a copy of it stored as a MS Word file. If you want a copy, send me a pm with your email address.

I have been saving links to pictures of different star spin quilts on my blog (formerly my pages). There is also a link to the tutorial referred to above. http://www.quiltingboard.com/blogs/star-spin-b1785.html

I just clicked on the link for this pattern and it told me I was not authorized to view this page. How strange!

The pattern for a Star Spin tabletopper was sent to the board from Marina from Russia. You can access the pattern at http://www.roolen.blogspot.com.
She also, has a pattern called Metamorphoses for another tabletopper that is Hexagonal in shape. Both very pretty.

According to PatriceJ, that message appears when the member has set her blog to private. It's visible only to herself and to those with Mod access or higher. Asking is easier than wondering. :)

Hello!
Today I got message:
"Tutorial Removed

Thank you for trying to help the other members figure out the Spin Star method.

Unfortunately, this is available as a commercial pattern protected by copyright law. As far as I know, the commercial pattern is the only source of this particular design.

We cannot post tutorials to help each other get around the need to purchase patterns for designs that are not in the
Public Domain.""

Sometimes ideas fly by air and land in different heads...

Nathan's Mimi 12-15-2011 03:49 PM

Uh,yeah the same happened to me!!!I thought we were "allowed "to see tutorials?!
