My recipe for starch...

1 cup Sta-flo concentrate
1 cup of water
1 cup of Febreeze lavender scent (or any scent of your choice)

shake vigorously until completely mixed and pour in a clean spray bottle.. I used an empty Best press bottle..

hey, lady diana, i personally do not use starch but should own stock in the magic sizing company. it is 98 cents at wm. usually buy 5-6 cans at a time. i spray, pat into fabric, cover with pressing cloth (scrap of unbleached muslin) and press. trust me, i have tried it all and this is the method i teach. it is especially effective when working with machine applique. when i was learning to sew on items that were to be stored...such as quilts, table coths, etc....mom said no starch...made from corn and bugs love
love, love it. it is just one of those things that has stuck with me. it may not even be relavent today but old habits are hard to break.

I've read in another group where some quilters actually soak fabric in starch and hang it to dry and then press. Am going to try this but haven't yet.

I could not find Sta-Flo in my Walmart. I looked with the spray starches, laundry products and where ever else I could think of. Maybe it's just my Walmart and I should try another one.

I didn't find it at mine either. That's when I started looking at the home recipes, using cornstarch.
