I usually don't use anything and it works fine for me.

I use sizing not starch. I heard Alex Anderson say that starch attracts silverfish.

I don't know if moths eat starch. Moths generally eat holes in wool.

Starch is food though. Most starch is made from corn. But it can also come from wheat, rice or potatoes.

Mary Ellen's Best Press is not made from a food starch though.
