Is there a difference between spray starch and sizing? Which do all of you use?

I buy a jug of Sta-Flo from gorcery store or Walmart. It is concentrated starch so i mix it half and half in a spray bottle with water. last forever, cheap, and works great

I use starch not sizing.

Do you protect the ironing board when using the products?

knlsmith 01-03-2010 10:48 AM

Nope. I just wash my cover in between projuects. It tends to get a little stiff.

I use starch, I want my fabrics stabilized while cutting and piecing. If there are going to be bias edges I starch them stiff
I just wash my ironing pad occasionally, I don't notice the starch harming any of the fabric. I clean my iron too.

Niagara brand spray starch will not flake and it's hard to find in my area. I find it at odd stores around and usually for about a $1 a can. Faultless seems to be the common brand here. Faultless flakes too much.

I use Niagra spray starch

I use the lavender scented starch alternative. Love the product but can't stand the applicator. It's a regular spray bottle and I call it a splatter bottle.
