Starching
There is a thread when a Laq discussed a quilt. This Laq did an amazing job but made a comment about it was helped by perfect piecing but also about the starching. Was it lightly starched so very mobile or was it very stiff like paper? The comment was I think how easy the quilt glided over the rollers hope this is right I read so much that I get places read mixed up.
Thank you for your help |

I'm just a beginner quilter - I am an experienced piecer but learning the next step. I don't starch my fabric - but may have to try this trick. Not that it would look anything close to the one in the link above!

I pieced that top. I starched all of the fabrics prior to cutting. It was not card stock stiff. So I would say a medium. I used Stay Flo and diluted it 2 parts water to 1 part starch. ( I like to mix up my own solutions) It was a scrap quilt and mixed my starch in a big bowl with a lid , filled the bowl up with scraps and shake ! Once the scraps are saturated I dried them on a small wood clothes dryer overnight, pressed then cut. I used the leftover starch mixture in a spray bottle and when I was pressing the seams open , I lightly sprayed the seams , and pressed.
