Starching

Do you starch your blocks before assembling them. I have used starch and then I forget to. I am doing double slice quilt and thinking I should starch each block. What do you do?

I starch the fabric before cutting the pieces, but don't starch after sewing and assembling the blocks.

I also starch my fabric before cutting when it needs it, but not pieced blocks. Once your block is pieced you really risk stretching, distorting the block if you spritz the block, with starch, water (steam) or anything else.

I also starch before I cut.

I starch my fabric and will sometimes starch during construction if it is a block that I am re-cutting like Dissappearing Hourglass.

I starch a lot. I wash my fabric and then starch it prior to cutting. After I finish a block I starch it again and then when the quilt is completely finished, I give it another good ironing using starch if necessary.

I never starch unless I'm sewing on the bias in an unsupported manner. I think it helps keep the block from stretching. So if I'm cutting on the straight of grain why do I need to starch it?
