Start blocks or not to start blocks......

......that is the question! I have a project of quilt squares I would like to work on every morning for about a half an hour BUT I have a quilt I have not finished and it has been waiting for my attention for the longest of long times so I could start on the new quilt project. Now, where did I get the idea one must be done before start a new? I don't know! So, to start the new blocks or not start the new blocks? It is not as simple as JFTDQ (just finish the darn quilt). I don't want to deal with it so find I am doing nothing! Help!

I think many of us have been in your situation. If I were you I would start the new project. Usually it gives me inspiration to finish the earlier project. Sometimes you just need to keep things fresh to keep quilting.

Sometimes it is not the right time to finish a quilt. Start the new one and when that one gets old you may want to take a break and finish the first one. I do that a lot.

Does it have to be all one or all the other?

Yep I agree. If the inspiration is there, you must take advantage of it. The unfinished project may just need time to percolate in your mind. You'll get back to it when the time is right. Isn't that why most quilters have UFO's?

Quit procrastinating and start the new project. You know you waaant to!

I used to never start a project til I finished the one I was working on....no more, it's like something snapped last year and I usually have several things going at once now, I'm currently working on about 6 projects, do a little on whatever I feel like doing, did finish one Friday...but it's okay,I now do what I want!!! I finally learned that it is okay!!!!

I agree, sometimes you need to start a new project or go to another project to feel inspired to finish an old one. In fact, that is what I am doing. I am in the middle of quilting one on my LA, but was getting a little frustrated, so I am finishing up a small wall hanging from several years ago.

I like to have different projects going in different stages. This way when I gat bored doing one type task, I can do something different but am still making progress. At least that' how I justify multipke projects!

It all depends if I have a timeline I need to keep to. I'm working on one that has to be done in June so I'm not starting anything new because I know I'll be at the last minute scrambling. But if I have no timeline and I want six things going I do so. No one's looking so do what you want!

start the new one, you'll get inspiration to finish the od one
