When one member said every quilt has a story, I agreed. I suggested writing a memoir piece for every quilt, name of recipient, design ideas, thoughts from the process. I can think of 7 quilts I have made this year that have a back-story, a wedding gift, a birthday gift, pieces for my kids, charity donations with special meaning. Why not start a journal & add photos. Dotty

I have a journal, and I do write in it every time I start and finish a quilt. My problem is I take a picture, I just don't print it.

Great idea!

I was thinking about doing this...I save photos, and I actually embroidered my latest quilt with my name, date and the quilt's name. But it would be nice to have a journal, with maybe pics of the back and front a bit of a story and maybe snips of the fabric used.

Could be an interesting read for future generations, and it will be in book format which probably by then will be unheard of.

As a scrapbooker and a quilter, I have kept a scrapbook since I began quilting. I keep a piece or pieces of the fabric, a picture of the recipient (with me when possible), date I gave it to them, any special information about the quilt or reason for the quilt. I also add thank you notes ... of the 17 quilts in my scrapbook, I only have one thank you note ??? I love looking at it myself.

I write out a paragraph and added a picture. I put the paper and picture in a page saver. I type it out, I have lousy handwriting.

i save fabric swatches (sometimes just a little 1/2" x 1" piece from the quilt, and include what batting i used along with any notes about the project...not great (yet) about finished pictures added to my journal but it's pretty good ... will be better when i actually start getting the pictures in there. i do have rough sketches, and stuff like that included along with the who, what, why & when's and any personal notes i jot down along the way.

I've been keeping a quilt journal for some time...I like to think that the quilts I make are my legacy.

I am new to quilting but I have kept a journal of all of my cross stitch items. This is a great idea because this journal can alo be used as a brag book or a portfolio for those who are in business.
