Start/stop feature

I have discovered that free motion quilting using the start/stop button helps keep me at a consistent speed and my stitches look better. I just tap the foot pedal when I want yo stop! Have I been living under a mushroom? Is everyone doing it this way who have that feature on their machine?

I don't understand tapping to stop. You can't stop until you tap the pedal?

Gladys 12-03-2013 05:54 AM

I didn't know that, so you weren't the only one...;)

No, you can stop by pressing the start/stop button, but I don't like to move my hands so with my machine if I tap the foot pedal the machine stops.

Never heard of that, something new to me!

I have a Viking Sapphire 870.

I have a Sapphire 870 too and I didn't know about tapping the foot pedal to stop! I will try that next time I FMQ. I'm always learning something new on this board!

I hadn't thought of that. My Pfaff Passport has that feature, but my other Pfaff is older, so it does not. So do I need a new machine now?!

Another new thing to learn this morning about our Sapphire 870.... but then I've never really got the hang of using the start/stop button... makes me feel like I'm using cruise control on an icy road. :D
