Start with a core group of friends, say 5 or 6. Then use the word of mouth technique. I'd come!

A quilting friend and I decided to start a Sew Day Group. We booked the free community room at the library and put up notices everywhere about the Sew Day Group. The day of the first meeting we had a lot of people show up. We have been meeting one day a month for over two years now. No formal meetings, no dues, no one in charge. We have a great day sewing, chatting, exchanging books/magazines, and we always have new people dropping in.

i belong to 2 church groups - and don't attend church in either place
The first one I knew someone and was remembered when they were putting something together. The meet Thurs mornings and once a month have a carry in lunch and quilt til mid afternoon. That one has been going for almost 10 yrs now!! I can only go there during the summers when school's not in session. The 2nd one i just started going to and I found it by actually going to one of their church fall festivals and they were raffling off a quilt. They meet Tues nites and I can get my "fix" all year long now  Good luck w/ your endeavor |
Seazteddy, This is the exact same kind of group I'm looking for. I hope you are located in PA.
