My sewing machine has a locking stitch and I wonder if other quilters use such a thing. I'm such a tie-off person that depending on a lock stitch makes me a little nervous. I do like the fact that I can cut the threads flush so there are no little ends hanging about.

Who else has a locking stitch, and do you use it? Any problems or cautions?

I have it on one of my machines, but I don't use it.

I don't have that feature on any of my sewing machines, therefore I must manually tack at the beginning and ending of my stitching. Sounds nice!

I have it. I do use it, much of the time.

I have Vikings and it is on all of them and I always use it. Then all the ends are on the back to trim. It is truly wonderful; one of the many reasons I chose these machines. I got my one granddaughter a cheaper one without that feature and if I use that machine I really miss it.

I never used it on my old machine-it would make a really lumpy bump at the end of seams. I have a new machine but I haven't done any quilting on it yet. On my old machine I would start at a zero stitch length, then increase it a little at a time.

I do, but I haven't figured out how to NOT make it lock when I pause. It thinks I'm stopping and does another lock stitch to end!

The few times I've used my machine to quilt I used the locking stitch, ... I like it
