I found this article touting this Japanese architectural design for an extreme book collector.
"A House of Shelves"

I can't see storing books ( or fabric!) in my bathroom but the entire house is a built as model for organization. It would be quite something if it were filled with fabric!

Enjoy.

Wow... I am speechless!

Different.

Hmmm... assuming enough fabric to fill all those nooks and crannies...

Just think how energy efficient this home could become! Lots of insulation.

But... lots of dust. And potential fading. How 'bout glass doors to cover the shelves? The kind of glass that reduces fading?

What a nifty idea! I would love to have walls of shelves - even in the bathrooms - got lots of stuff to store in there - towels, extra soap, etc. Not sure I'd like it in the kitchen, but just might if there were something closing it off from the "cooking air."

Wow what I could do with all those shelves!

Love it! Saw an apartment similar to that when we were in London. Efficient use of normally wasted space.

Living in that house would sure require a different mind-set than I have now.
557sq ft is about 23.6' x 23.6'. That's about the size of our living room & kitchen.
I took over my son's room for sewing. It's almost a third of that area.

Wow, could store lots of fabric and quilting books

I like it - love the effiency also - all my adult life my hubby and I (25 yrs) have lived in small places and you really have to find creative ways to keep your stuff. Now we own a home that is 2000 sq ft - and we are empty nesters - feel like I should hear an echo when I talk. But I love the coziness of the small place and wow can you imagine being surrounded by books and fabric - that would be heaven to me.
