Oops..I do mean pressing board. Just curious if the foam sheet really prevents distortion. Thanks everyone for your responses!

If you can make a Steady Betty for less then it cost then that's great. Personally I haven't found the supplies needed to be cheaper.

I have a June Tailor pressing/ cutting board. Made flannel pillowcase to slip over the board for a small design board or you can just put a piece of flannel on it. I have so many pressing surfaces, I just hate to think of getting another so I will do with what I have.

I needed to use one for a quilt...triangles that would have distorted. I asked my local quilt shop and she happen to have one....I borrowed it and it was a great tool. I don't know if I would use it daily, so I never inquired her to see if she could purchase it for me....I'd probably find it on Amazon and save some $. I know that it was about $35-40 and for one quilt...I didn't want to purchase.

It is a little on the expensive side, but if you like to make projects with lots of bias edges, forget to "press" instead of "iron", or just want to treat yourself to a nifty quilting aid, then go for it. :) |
I have the Steady Betty and love it. Fabric doesn't move when pressing, it doesn't take up much space so I am able to keep it on the table beside my machine when sewing and it's very lightweight which makes it easy to move or to carry with you when traveling.

If you use a towel on top of your ironing board your biased edges with not stretch. I just keep the towel on it all the time, my fabric doesn't move or get distorted! Learned this at a class and it was the best part of the class!!

Towel didn't work for me at all. I bought mine using 60%off coupon at Joann online.
