I only use dry heat. For stubborn creases I use a spray bottle of water, no gunk to spew out on my blocks or fabric.

Hi,

I use steam when I "press" my seams in my blocks when piecing. I was taught that ironing is like when you are doing a shirt, you move your iron back and forth, forward and back...that's ironing. I press my seams, which is putting the iron on the seam and barely moving it around to flatten the seam.
If you use steam and really iron your block it can be distorted....I use steam and work real hard at not ironing my seams! I don't think a dry iron flattens the seam as well...I agree with you.
So, yes, I use steam.

I used to always use steam... the last few months I've stopped as my Rowenta liked to spit up occasionally. I just replaced it with a new Black & Decker and am going to stay dry for now... I use a spray bottle of water when needed

Your iron needs inside cleaning.
