Stencils
 

Has anyone ever seen any quilting stencils for playing cards? I'm looking for a poker card game theme for a quilt I want to make for my husband. He is a big poker player and I want to quilt his quilt with a poker theme.
Any info and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I very often make my own to suit what I am doing. And speaking of suits, I wonder if you could make some in the shapes of spades, hearts, clubs, and diamonds.

I had thought of that Boston1954 just don't think I'd be very good at it. But, how hard can it be, those shapes should be easy enough. I might just have to try it. I don't want to waste a lot of time looking for them. I seem to do that alot when starting a quilt. It's usually the fabric I get stuck on. I get this imagine of what I want in my head and nothing I find is good enough and I usually end of settling on what ever I can find and I'm very seldom happy with it. So, making my own might be the way to go. Thanks so much for the suggestions!

Are these stencils at American Home Stencils plastic? I buy some stencils from Quilting Creations... are these the same type?

You could take a deck of cards, tape together one from each suit in the shape/style you want and lay a piece of template plastic over them to trace. Then cut with an exacto knife if you don't have a dremel/melting tip.

Here are a bunch of clip art images. Cupy them on a copier, using enlarge if you want, then use golden paper & pounce or trace on template plastic. Search clip art card suit images.

I would think that you could find some fabric with cards. You have to think sometimes that if the fabric is busy, you won't see the quilting.

That's just what I thought too. I have a dremel but I dont think it has a melting tip. I'm not sure what kind of attachments it has cause I haven't used it yet. Haven't even had it out of the pkg. That I will have to look into next. I tried cutting around the imagines on the cards with an exacto knife but I didn't have much luck. Going to try the knife again and the dremel this week end. Thanks so much for the suggestions!

susanwilley, I have some fabric with card suits on it. I used some of it to make a donation fund raising quilt but have some left. If you would like what's remaining, PM me also I can send you a pic of the fabric first.

If it's quilting the card motifs that you want to do, one company has a set of the four longarm templates for doing just that, but I don't remember the company offhand.
