still trying to choose a sewing machine
 

Last week I asked about anyone's experience with the Pfaff QE 4.0. I can get that machine - and it has a number of features I really like - for about $2079 at my local sewing machine place. But they also have a Brother NX 2000 Laura Ashley version (not that I care about that!) for $2479 and it too has some really nice features. Now I know all about trying them out; I plan to do that on Wednesday. But if anyone has the Brother machine, would you share your opinions of it. Am I getting a better buy with the Brother? Or shall I stick with my first inclination with the Pfaff? Help!

I have a Brother SE400 which is a combo sewing embroidery. A couple of weeks ago I went to the local Brother authorized dealer. He had that Laura Ashley machine there and I drooled over it. It was last year's model but it was very nice. I don't know anything about the Pfaff. From comments on here, and reading online reviews, I think Brother machines are excellent machines.

I don't know anything about the Pfaff either, but I love my Brothers. I have 4 now and love them all.

I think I commented on your prior thread that I have the Pfaff QE 4.0 and love it. I also have a Brother 4500Duetta and love it also, but purchased it mostly for embroidery. I usually take the Brother when I go out of town and especially on retreats, just because I can sew, piece, quilt or embroider - altho with all of the embroidery attachments it takes up twice as much space.
That being said - if I'm sewing, piecing or quilting, the Pfaff QE 4.0 is the sewing machine of choice!!!

Both are really nice machines, good luck with what ever you choose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know anything about the brother machines but have had several Pfaff machines and love them all. I would recommend them any time.

]I have a pfaff expression quilter great for sewing but hateful for quilting, every time I quilt a quit on it it quits, so sick of this sick machine, being quilting on my Kenny no problem at all, it is a regular sewing machine. I have a brother and he just purrs along sews beautifully .
im red with spite because of the Pfaff that is why I'm typing red.

I had the older version of the laura ashley. It is an awesome machine. Love the AHA feature which makes perfect tension. Never had any tension problems on my machine. love the needle down, and automatic thread cutter. The pivoting function was really neat. I used that alot. I also liked the ability to adjust presser foot pressure and height which I used for FMQ. If I didn't have my dreambaby I would have kept her because she was a lovely machine. I had her for 2 1/2 years with no problems. She comes with all the accessories you need, 3 FMQ feet, a walking foot, 1/4 inch foot an extension table.

I have the Pfaff QE4. It has really nice features, and I have grown very fond of it. It has taken some time to get to know it for quilting. I love the space and the auto thread cutter. It pieces very nice and the stitches are very nice. I have recently become very comfortable with the quilting on my QE4, go slow, use the speed control and don't be afraid of adjusting the tension.

I just bought my 2nd Pfaff as a back up machine to my "good" Pfaff.....love these machines
