What is the difference between stipple and meander? I see these words used and they look the same.

Basically a meander is a lot larger than a stipple. A stipple is smaller.

I remember reading
Meander: lines 1/2" or more apart
Stipple: lines 1/4" or less apart

Don't know what you'd call 3/8" apart :)

I believe there are some tutorials on line about that. I watched one on Stippling and it was like filling in the space, without crossing any of the lines, and I thought meandering was doing loops, and leaves, shapes to fill in the space. I could be wrong though.

stipling the lines never touch or cross-
meandering can be anything- stars, hearts, flowers, loop-d-loops- any design (meandering) across the quilt
