Thank you everyone for your help. I am super nervous about making a huge mistake on this quilt. It is so, so special I want it to be as perfect as possible. When it's complete I will post photos.

Don't you put side borders on? I put those on before the top & bottom borders.

You are a sharp reader -

I put borders on the sides, then add borders to the top, then continue as I wrote before.

Borders then quilt. Such sad circumstances. We know now she'll get the loving she deserves. Condolences to the family!
