Storing Quilts
 

I have several baby quilts that I've made, but don't have plans to give them away just yet. I was wondering how you store your quilts while they are waiting for a home.

i roll them on a cardboard tube with fabric around all and stand it up in the closet.

If you have a spare bed in the house, one of the best ways of storing quilts is to layer them on a bed and cover with a sheet (to protect from dust). I haven't used them myself, but swim noodles can be good for rolling a quilt. You can cut the noodles to size and stand them on end in a closet.

I store unused quilts in a 100 % cotton fabric pillowcase. That way they are dust free and in something that breathes so they won't get moldy.

in a matching pillowcase is great. all together. if you don't like folding them, the rolling should work.

I lay mine out on a bed. If company comes I have to remove them, but that just gives me another chance to look at them.

I store mine in plastic bags or plastic bins. They will outlast me no matter how I store them.

A picker told me he has bought old quilts that had been stored under mattresses, hence they were very flat. Hmmm, I would not recommend this. In a pillowcase seems good, need to be kept from direct contact of wood.

I use white cotton pillow cases. My granny stored them on a bed and covered them.
