Straight line quilting - help
 

Here is a newbie question, so pls don't laugh. I have used Allpeoplequilt.com's tutorial on continuous line quilting a 9 patch square with great success.Now I want to continuously quilt a four patch block. Don't know exactly what to Google and haven't found what I want in my quilt books. Thanks Meegan

are you looking for a design to quilt? Try doing a google or bing images search for continuous line or straight line quilting. Be sure to hit images at the top so you get pictures and not site links. If your fabric is busy, chances are the quilting won't be seen much anyway. I just quilted a VERY busy quilt. On about 80-90 percent of the quilt, NO quilting could be seen. I actually got lost a couple times and quilted over other quilting! You can see it on the back, but its invisible on the front. Can you post a picture...and are you set on straight lines? A wiggly line is easier to accomplish and you 'meant it that way', so its not so picky.

I have almost worn this book out: One Line at a Time by Charolette Warr Andersen. It's all straight line quilting.

I love that book, too. Blue masking tape is my friend.

It also is my friend to. Best thing to use when you want to cross hatch a large quilt. I am not familiar with your reference but if it worked before, can't you you alter the way you quilted around a 9 patch to work around a four patch??

I just use crayola washable markers and a ruler and draw onto the quilt. Then I use a walking foot instead of a free motion foot. I assume you are using a regular sewing machine to quilt. When using a long arm I use long arm quilting rulers.

You could always stitch in the ditch. That is actually my favorite way of quilting.
