Does anyone have a Brother 1500S machine they use on their quilting frame? I am considereing buying one and not sure how well they really do. I already have a Bernina 180 therefore I don't need all the fancy stitches, etc. with another machine. Plus I have an Singer Electronic that I use for piecing.

I have a Brother 1500 that I purchased specifically for using on a frame. Can't tell you how it works however, because I lost my room to set up in when DS moved back home. However, I really like piecing with it. I only use my Pfaff when I need to use a fancy stitch or zig-zag. One of these days, I will set up my frame, and give it a try. I even have a stitch regulator to use with it, and would really like to try it out. LOL

I don't have the stitch reg. But I do have the machine on my frame and I love. It works great!

I bought this machine in June and LOVE it! I don't have it on a frame, however, but I can tell you that it stitches a beautiful straight stitch. The machine is heavy duty and so are all the feet that come with it. :)

I don't use mine on a frame either, but I love piecing with it.

There is one thing I did change. After the hopping foot broke on the PQ I replaced it with a Juki all metal foot.

I have the Pfaff 1200 Grandquilter. It is pretty much the same machine. They are mechanical machines that only go forward or backward. They have a high stitch speed and need regular oiling to run smoothly. I like mine even though it is a bit louder than I expected. The Juki 980? is a good contender too. You may want to check that one out as well.

I have one but not on a frame. One day maybe. It's great for piecing. Very simple to do all the maintenance on, easy to take the housing off for cleaning. I cut the front part of the FMQ foot off leaving a semi circle so I could see my stitching.

That's a great idea! How did you cut it off and make it smooth? I've been thinking about buying an open toe darning foot but I'm a cheapskate and haven't done it yet :)
