A friend told me about this strange little store here in Portland Oregon! I have driven by it many times and, from the outside, it appears to be a recycle place. Well, that's exactly what it is! scraps.com accepts recycled goods that is usable including fabric, yarn, sewing & art supplies, etc, resells it at a low price and the profits go to education. Actually, school camps. I bought a pkg of 5 fat quarters for $2, big package of large safety pins for 50 cents, fabric sample book, etc. This would be a great place for stash building! That is not my goal but I did find some good buys and even bought some office supplies. If you donate stuff to them, you get a 20% discount which I forgot to ask for. But, oh well, money goes to a good cause.

Sounds neat.

we have a place like that in VT called The Re-Store. never know what you will find.

Buzzy Bee 05-26-2011 03:44 AM

There is one in Durham,NC on Forest St. downtown called "scrape exchange"...

Colbaltjars62 05-26-2011 04:05 AM

That's not such a bad area. There are far worse areas to drive to. I have been working down around there for about 3+ years now. I would recommend not driving your bling mobile ;-) though. :XD:

We have a Re-Store here in La Grande. Have I been overlooking a treasure trove all along? It's a couple of blocks of the bus route, but since I have to stand and wait often for the bus it just might be worth the hike over and back.
