String Blocks - Help, Please.

1 Attachment(s)
I am a newbie quilter with limited resources.

I do not have a stash of fabrics - I just buy what I need for the small quilts I make for Project Linus.
Even so, I still managed to accumulate a number of off cuts. I recently cut them into 1.5 inch strips and made my first string bocks - 4 in total!

I have put these together to make a make a 24 inch square.

Now I’m wondering what to do next. I could just bind it as it is but it seems rather small. I have enough white and yellow fabrics to make a border but I’m not sure if that is the right way to go.

Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Very pretty.
Yes, you could finish it off, as is.

Or you could border it up.

Or you could keep it and add to it as you have more strings.

Or ... lots more possibilities!

I would store these away in a project box and make more along as you have scraps. Pretty soon you will have enough to make a baby quilt or throw. Happy quilting. Pretty blocks!

You have begun a beautiful work here. I would save it for an ongoing project until you reach a more useful size. It would make a beautiful pillow using a border of a solid color. Keep up the great work. You pass the beginner's test in my opinion.

that came out well, and Welcome to quilting!

I make them as I go along with my real projects and just save them until I have a pile.

Again, welcome!

Beautiful block. I agree with the others, save it until you can make a more useful size quilt.
I buy remnants when I can and use them in my donation quilts. Small amount of fabric for smaller price. I can get a nice variety that way.

I agree with everyone else-save the blocks and keep adding to them. You could put them in a storage bin and add to the pile as you sew more. Beautifully done blocks BTW.

Oh yes ... and trim it up with cotton eyelet.
Would be quite lovely and let you get to enjoying the fruits of your labour a lot sooner.

Really depends on what is "useful" to you!

It could also make a nice table topper at that size.

That's so pretty! I want to make one.
A pillow or make more for a larger size would be great.

I would do a yellow border and then do lots of string 6 inch blocks to go all the way around and then another wide yellow border. Lovely start!
