I recently did 2. Sewed one strip set together in one evening (I am not the racing type), trimmed all the seams and pressed them open. Sewed the top the next evening. I took care to straighten out the strips before I sewed them but there was one twist in the end (no matter what I did). I will post pictures later.

Oh, and I couldn't leave the jelly roll alone either. Didn't like the duplicates so I mixed and matched 2 jellies. One turned out real dark and one quite light. I like them both. Just not sure how to quilt them now.

Just completed my jelly roll race quilt. The utube I watched seemed to tell how long it takes to make the strips into a flimsy, but they are already connected when you begin the timing. I connected the strips like they were binding so the angle shows. The connecting of the strips took 45 minutes. I had a small jelly roll from Tuesday Morning with 28 strips or so. I made sure I didn't have a twist in my first seam. When I got to the very end I cut the piece, then brought the end to the top and made another seam. Fun and fast. I added a 1.5" border then a 4" border. Not sure how to upload photos onto this site:( Will learn the photo part another day.

Well, I'd meet you at the back of the pack because I've been working on my Jelly Roll Races for what seems like eons. (1) I have a wonky right knee that can only bedn & press the foot pedel for so long before it starts yelping, (2) I have a puppy dog who seems to think "Mommy sewing = I need to go in & out & in & out" (LOL), & (#3) I'm anal. My diagonals have to be good. My strips have to be pressed first. I have to stop & trim the seams after I sew the diagonals... oh, I'm sure watching me would be pure torture! But, I'm enjoying the process (except for trying to wrangle all the strips the first couple of "rounds") & that's all that matters. Well, that & that the top looks at least presentable when it's done. I think I'll name mine "Tortoise Race"... LOL!

Oh Rebecca your so funny. I love the Tortoise Race name. It took me quit a while just ta sew the strips tagether 'cause I was doin' somethin' else at the same time.:) It took me basically 3 evenin's ta sew the main part & 4 months ta make the borders, so I think I'll borrow your name for this quilt. 'cause I'm not through yet.

A "little appliqueing"??!! This is absolutely beautiful. The white blocks are very cool in there, too. :-)

I love not only the fastness of this typeof quilting but the look.

I must be the missing triplet:D If I try to speed things up everything goes wrong. I believe that it is all about the journey not the destination. Enjoy and show us the end result.
