Strip quilting border help, please?
I have just finished putting together a queen size scrappy string quilt for my sister. When making my squares I used an old sheet as foundation fabric. I like this better than paper piecing as I like the stability it gives the quilt. I want to use scraps for the border as well, but don't know if I'm supposed to use a foundation for them. There are lots of leftover 4 inch long strip pieces I could use and think that if I just sew them together the borders will feel "flimsy" compared to the rest of the quilts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Why not use the same foundation for the borders? I'd love to see a picture of the quilt - I love scrappy!

I did a scrappy recently and used muslin under the individual squares. I didn't use the muslin under the sashing or the border and it turned out fine. However, if the whole top has a foundation under it, you might want to put it under the border too. Good Luck!

I agree with a previous post, Once it is quilted , it won't make much of a difference.

yes more sheet fabric or muslin could work as foundation.

Thank you! I will use more sheeting on my border and will try to post a picture.
