strip sets
 

looking for tips on ironing strip sets of three where the seams are pressed towards the middle strip ugh! I been struggling with them all day when I iron the second seam to the center somehow I am ironing the other seam out of wack just can't get them both to lay flat and toward the center strip thanks

Are you pressing after the addition of each strip? It is easier than trying to do them all at once.

Gotta have the strip stick! I use mine every day.

I needed a strip stick; but didn't have one. I had a sleeve roll that goes with my tailor's ham. That sleeve roll made an excellent substitute for a strip stick. In fact, it is so good, I decided that I did not need to buy a strip stick. By the way, I press each seam after I sew it.

I usually press each seam as I go along as well. I also press my seams open, however. I find that makes everything lie much flatter. Sometimes that's not an option but I take it any time I can get it. If you don't have the strip stick, just about any flat device - even a butter knife - will help with pressing seams into submission.

I also iron a lot of mine open. I find its easier to FMQ over the seams. It does not take up much more time to iron them open.

I have discovered that if I put the seam I am pressing near the edge of my ironing board and let the rest hang down then I am only pressing the one isolated seam. I then turn my fabric and press the other seam, with the fabric again hanging down. Hope that makes sense.
