I am about to start a quilt called Multifaceted. It uses Hoffman Bali Pops (2 1/2" x 44" strips). I need to make several combinations using 3 fabric strips and 4 fabric strips.

Should I stitch them in the same direction or should I change direction when adding each strip? Does this make sense?

I am concerned about the strips stretching and getting wavy. I know a number of you have used the strip tubing method so I am hoping you can advise me. Thanks so much.

Alternate sewing from the top down and bottom up. Will help keep your strip sets straight. Have fun.

Yes alternate sewing them. Also be careful when pressing them. I like to lay them out straight, and keep them completely straight while pressing.

I have seen that pattern and love it. I was wondering if you could do it the same way as the tube quilting?

Good call. You should alternate the direction you sew them or they will get wavy.

Yes, it was designed as a strip tubing method quilt.

Daniela Stout the owner of Cozy Quilt Shop in Rancho San Diego designed this pattern, and in fact has designed many patterns for this method. You can see all of her patterns at cozyquilt.com

I agree with everyone that suggest alternating the direction of sewing, so that is what I will do. I hoping to get it started tomorrow. Thank you for your advice. I have come to rely on all of you. Thanks.
