Stuffing a quilted pillow.

Can I use scraps of fabric, t-shirts, and batting to stuff a pillow? How shredded or cut down does the fabric need to be? I am making monster pillows for my nephews so they do not need to be perfect...

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I put these in pillowcases for dog beds. They are washable but take forever to dry. I put all sizes in dog beds but for a pillow I would think you would want them cut smaller.

i generally use a *muslin* or other scrap fabric to create a (bag) to hold the scraps---the smaller the better it will *fluff* up- i fill my pillow sized *bag*- stitch it closed- then place that into my quilted *cover*- that way- if it gets to the point of needing laundered i can remove the inner bag of scraps- wash the cover- then *refill* it with the bag- much easier than trying to dry & fluff the stuffing part.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about the time to dry. I think I will save the scraps for my DSIL for her doggie bed.

The smaller the better for the scraps.

A bag of little balls is large and cheap . But I would make an inner cushion and make fancy for outside to be taken off and washed.
