Thank you. When I made my first quilt (a few months ago), I wanted to include the name of the baby girl and the only thing that occurred to me was embroider it in the front...

But, since I'm not good at embroidery, I'd better 'hide' the label on the back ;)

That's really cute to put in the white square. Good Job.

If you hand sew your binding to the back also you might sew all but that one corner so all you have to do it add the label and stitch it down quickly. Just a thought.

This is what I do too. Always in the lower right hand corner.

That's how I do mine too! too- easy to sew the folded part down & be done!

If showing a quilt, do the rules have a placement "guide"?

And if so, what if it is not where one prefers to place a label? Take the show label off and replace it with the preferred one?

I do like the idea of quilting through a label for purposes of making it harder for the label to "disappear".

I also like the idea of putting on the label as the very last thing one does when making a quilt.

Silk - I like your embroidered white square/label in the corner. I think it is perfect for that quilt.

In a situation like yours, and I have been there too, I will finish the quilt all but the final corner where I will be placing the label. When the dear one arrives, I add the label details and sew it into the seam and hand stitch the two sides. I have just started using a 4 or 5 in square folded on the diagonal thus only have one side to hand stitch. :) I do hand write my labels, so sometimes I will add all of the info to the label, sew it on and just add the baby name later.

One thing to remember is to leave enough space around your writing so there is plenty of room to sew the label onto the back of the quilt.

I make my labels for baby quilts after the baby is born and I have all the information.i embroider all my labels on my machine and hand stitch to the bottom of the quilt back. I love the personal look of the embroidery...and I paid a whole lot to be able to do it...so I use it.LOL

I use invisible thread and machine stitch it in place on the bottom right side of the back after the quilt has been bound. I do my own quilting, so I'm not afraid to "mess it up" with a 4" square in the corner. Most of the time, it's not noticeable from the front.
