Ok, I know this is going to be a dumb question but here goes. I was looking on the Connecting Threads site thinking to buy some thread for machine quilting. Now, usually I buy thread at Joann's and it is labeled "machine quilting", "hand quilting", etc. Nothing was labeled on the site. So is the Connecting Threads thread ok for machine quilting or is there something I should be looking for that I just don't know about?

you might want to check size. size 50 is about right. you can use size 40 (thicker) for applique' I discovered applique' thread in size 12 that looks so wonderful for primitive, trees,etc. adjustments to tension necessary for this. but for blanket stitch, it looks so GOOD.
a 14/90 needles helps the thread slide through for fast stitching.

I've use connecting threads for piecing and maching quilting - it's very nice thread.

Thread for "hand quilting" is specially treated so that it doesn't tangle and such and its stiffer - definitely don't put this in your machine!

We had a speaker at our guild this month who is a 'Certified Thread Educator' - wow, it was a really interesting presentation! She had 'stitch outs' of all kinds of different types and weights so you could see the different effects. I use their thread for piecing and machine quilting. I have used it to quilt with my Pfaff and my Juki and it worked like a dream.

How did she get that title? Do you have to go to thread college?

I think if you go to the thread seminar you get a certificate. I think it's several days long. It's amazing what there is to know about thread.
