Iam making a kitchen wall hanging and pot holder for our guild quilt show. It says to use heat-proof batting, which I do not have. It is doubtful I can get it by the time I am needing it.
Can anyone suggest a good substitute for heat-proof batting; something most anyone would have?
Thanks, Mariah.

cotton batting is good-like warm and natural.

Two layers of cotton batting.

I use old jeans (2 pieces) for potholders and casserole carriers.

And I would put a layer of aluminum foil in between the cotton batting.

I use two layers of old towels... .if I want a bit of fluff I put a low loft batting on top of the towel layers.

Suggestion.... try picking up a hot pot with what ever you decide to use to test before making... That way you can try different things before sewing it together.

My mom made me several potholders and she used two layers of warm and natural batting. I use them all the time and they work great.

I used old jean legs

I like the suggestion of "testing" out what you want to use...if it's too hot for you don't give it as an exchange.
