I've been quilting for 15 years and have set some nice quilts aside for my grandchildren and great grandchildren. I've also made and donated quilts to a variety of organizations. And I've sold a few, mostly by word-of-mouth advertising. I'd love to sell more quilts but don't know where or how. One shop said it would take some on consignment but would charge 33% commision (ouch!)Because of physical problems I can't do craft shows -- so I guess I'm limited to the internet. Has anyone had any luck selling online? If so, where? I'd certainly appreciate hearing about your experiences!

Some have tried Etsy but heard you really have to advertise your site.

Another site is http://www.quiltsforsale.ca/index.php. They take 10% plus a fee to post the quilts.

Yes, I agree that Etsy would be great for you...when I was selling on Etsy I found that you had to list something each day in order to keep your site up at the top of the viewing site. I would list something small like a runner just to bump it up.

Art Fire is another online sales venue for handmade items.

I have gotten a lot of my customers from other customers and friends. When a customer picks up their quilt and tells how much they like it,tell them how much you appreciate their business and to please tell someone else about your quilts. Print out business cards and include one with the quilt. When you sell your quilts online, then you can't sell your quilts to anyone else during the time that they are online. I learned that the hard way.

Thanks for the tip. I'd never have known about not being able to sell elsewhere if listed online. (Hope you didn't get into serious trouble!)

Your suggestions sound great -- and thanks for taking the time and trouble to answer me. Guess I've got a bit of research to do the next few days.

Could you explain what you mean? Is that a particular website that has those terms?
