Suggestions/ideas needed......
 

Was wondering where you post flyers/information regarding sewing/quilting lessons for children. I am willing to teach children ages 10 to 15 to sew but am not sure where to advertise for the best results. Have tried at the local libraries with no luck, they will not allow you to charge, different churches no luck, Girl Scouts but they want it for free and local homeschooling groups, have heard nothing. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks Kim

I don't think I would do craigslist with all the issues there having, how ever what about nickle papers or penny saver type papers our bank has a bulletin board and some of the local grocery stores have them. does your town hall have a board you could post a flyer on.

If you want to get paid for your work, I think you would have to advertise - maybe even in the paper. Do you get a village or township letter? If so, perhaps you could get a blurb in that. We, also, have a radio show which listeners can sell or list items for sale, rent, free, etc. If you don't want to get paid, 4H would definitely be interested in your services.

Our local quilting shops have teachers who teach young ones to quilt in a series of classes. I would see if one near you would let you use there space. It would be a win win because you could be paid for the teaching, and they would benefit as fabric and sew needs could be bought right where they are sewing.

I think ads in the newspaper or local publications would be a good starting point.

The idea of working thru a local quilt shop is good. Also how about a local quilt guild. Many have junior memberships so they may want a class or maybe it would just open up the idea to some moms in the guild to have their daughters get some lessons and not from mom. Kids pay attention to "teachers" better than to mom. Or how about a mom and daughter class where mom is just there more or less for support.

I post in our grocery stores, Giant, Harris Teeter, Wegmans and have had wonderful response for commission quilting, repairs and renovation of old quilts. You might give it a try.

Try a local junior college...

Talk to the owners or schedulers/educators at LQS's and fabric stores. If they sell machines too, all the better to attract young sewers.

Some schools, esp in smaller towns, put out a local newsletters and sell ads.
