suggestions for pattern Chicago cubs/blackhawk quilts

I want to make a nice quilt as a gift. He loves the cubs, blackhawks and more. Not sure what pattern would work for this. Any ideas? Nothing to detail though as I am a scrapper quilter by nature. Appreciate all respones.

If you are good at drawing, you could do the ice surface with the red and blue lines, and goals etc. Then for baseball, you can do the diamond, in the colors of the respective teams.

You could try doing a baseball field for the Cubs. on the reverese do a hockey rink for the blackhawks.
or if you're using the fabrics, you can do a turning 20 quilt to use the pieces in a larger manner. good luck.

Here's the team quilt I made for my best friend, an OSU Beavers alum. It's a rag quilt with the team logo appliqued in the center. Warm and obnoxious - perfect for football games! :D

How big do you want to make it? I made a throw for my niece's family in WA using Mariner's fabric on one side and the Seahawks on the other. The fabric is 59 inches wide, so used 2 yards then just quilted the fabric together with batting in the middle, and sewed on a binding. For my daughter I collected all the MLB teams and cut out hexagons and put them into the "I Spy" style with the SD Padres on the other side. For her NFL quilt I collected the all the teams, then cut them into 6.5 inch squares, put them into the their appropriate divisions, used red and blue to frame the division - depending on which division they are in (ACF is Red and NFC is blue) then used the SD Charger fabric for the back of the quilt.

They are all very basic quilts. My DD's friend is an Oakland Raider fan, so I used 2 different Raider fabrics for a quilt for his 30th birthday.

They are not very imaginative but well loved, so for me that is all that matters.

BQ patterns are great. They use large blocks of fabric as the focal point. Perfect for tee shirts too.

lynnie, thanks for the response. I did think of a turning 20 quilt. I have made those several times and it is a fun quilt.

Peckish, that is a wonderful quilt you posted. Another great idea.

Warm Wishes is another great simple pattern. I enlarge the focus fabric to an 8.5" square instead of the 6"
