I was looking through some of my quilt magazines trying to find a new pattern. Don't know what, but I'll know it when I see it. For the fabrics I had in mind this isn't it. :(
Anyway it is from the August 2008 American Patchwork & Quilting magazine. It is an Edyta Sitar pattern and is a 3-d pattern. Not hard, just not what I want for a whole quilt. In the mag. it is a table runner.
I'll add this to my future scrap quilt/pillow pile!

That's really cute!!!

merrylouw 08-02-2011 09:29 AM

It may not have been what you were looking for, but it sure turned out great!

It'll make a beautiful pillow, or a little throw or wallhanging.

What a neat idea...sort of like the 10 minute block....instead of the squares inbetween the blocks, looks like a large triangle folded and sewn the same way.....whoa!!! nother idea just popped into my head.

np3 08-02-2011 09:46 AM

It is cute!

Yes! That's what it is, a folded triangle between blades/petals. It wasn't difficult, but it was longer than 10 minutes! There are sixteen blades in the block, so lots of chain stitching to do. I did have problems with the pattern for the center not being big enough and I had to cut a new one.

kristen0112 08-02-2011 09:45 PM

Really cute looks like a sunflower you should make a few more and add some stalks and leaves for a wall hanging

starshine 08-02-2011 09:47 PM

It is a pretty block. Hope you enjoy it when it moves from the ufo to the finished project whatever you end up making with it.

Sherome 08-03-2011 03:32 AM

Why not make it the focal point of the quilt and build something equally as beautiful and compatible around it. I could never send that one to the scrap pile.

The fabrics used in this were from the scrap pile. It would have to be part of a scrap quilt, as there is very little of the orange and yellow left. Someday...

Nicely done! :)

Greenheron 08-03-2011 04:35 AM

It could look great in a country/garden theme sampler quilt .

3699quilter 08-03-2011 05:59 AM

You did some fine work on that one block, even if you don't think you'll use it in a quilt.

Deborah12687 08-03-2011 06:17 AM

That is really a neat block, like how it stands out.

Oh my gosh that is just adorable! I love it and am now wishing I had that magazine. I doubt my library has it. I'll have to check with some of the ladies in my guild and see if anyone has it. I can see that brightening up a kitchen :)

Super job and great inspiration!

Beffy_Boo 08-03-2011 11:42 PM
