I find some sort of grey on dark colors blend well and a limey green will sew into almost any quilt. A light lavender also sews in well and not seen to much.

A friend’s DH bought about 100 spools of a kind of lavender thread at an auction and she used it in all of her piecing, said it was a perfect color. That’s kind of what I’m looking for now, a general color to use long arming as I don’t want 100 spools of thread.

I use only four colors: black, white, light taupe and dark taupe. Black and white thread color for black or white quilts. I find that light and dark taupe thread seems to blend into all other colors.

It really doesn't matter the color of piecing thread. Right now I'm using up a lot of bright red Aurifil.

I usu get my threat at the quilt show in Paducah. I buy the cones & prewound bobbins for all my piecing & quilting on George. They usu have show specials but it is just easier for me. I get neutral colors - Cream, Sand, Silver, & Gray & use them for all my piecing as they blend in quite well. I have gotten some at Red Rock Threads on-line (redrockthreads.com). The prewounds are a little pricey but I find the convenience worth it. Besides, they hold more thread than what I can wind myself. Happy Quilting! Kathy

sewingmachinesplus.com has some good sales. I've gotten 30% off a couple of times on the superior masterpiece and king tut
of course the sale is not going on right now :) When they do have a sale, I stock up I have eyed red rock threads but never purchased, so I am glad to hear others like them. I might try them sometime |
I went looking for Superior MonoPoly clear thread just yesterday and found it less expensive at Superior than Ebay or Amazon. Couldn't believe the price difference between these sites.

order directly from Superior, a dark charcoal gray is good for lots of darks.
