Supporting our Quilting Fabric Suppliers

I would love to, I truly would, but this is why, in Canada, I cannot. This is why.
I ordered 2 yds of Flannel from Hannocks of P. While I was waiting (3 weeks) I happened on some fabric locally that I though was perfect. so I bought 2 yds. It turned out they were the same fabric. ( I have great taste!)
HOWEVER. The price difference is crazy.
I paid, for the mail order, $4.99/ yd. (+ $5 Shipping, equalized with the rest of the order)
At a store 5 miles from my house, I paid $19/yd.
I can't afford to support my local store.

What a shame that is for you Canadian or overseas quilters.

I have never traveled to beautiful Canada but my friend had gone over 15 years ago and was totally shocked at the price of Hoffman of California fabric. I use to get clearance fabric from Hoffman for under $3 a yard. You are lucky that you shipping was as cheap as when I buy from Hancock of Pad.

We also pay a premium here in Australia, but shipping costs from the US have also gone up so much that I wait for sales to purchase fabric, both here and in the States.

Hancocks of P used have free shipping from time to time if you spend over $150. That was a great time to buy, but I haven't seen one of those for such a long time :(

I hate it but I have to agree with you on this. Don't forget that when you buy
locally there's GST on top. When you buy from the US there are no taxes.
Go figure. The one time I ordered a layer cake from a Canadian online store...
they managed to remove the twill ribbon:thumbdown:. I like my twill ribbons. :(
If I'm not mistaken it's the same store who removed the selvage off the fabric
for another customer. What's wrong with them.

I know, I buy lots of batiks. Hancock of Paducah wants $8.50 while Everyone else wants at least $13.50. Plus my selection is the whole spectrum of the line of fabrics. I do try to spend some local though. I find this is true especially with specific threads.

I don't mind paying more if it is convenient for me but not solely to keep any store in business.

I buy from Joanns with a coupon. if I bought LQS, I wouldn't be able to quilt at all.
