I'm trying to practice my FM...not very good at it. I recently tried it on my 301 and it seemed easier on that then my Viking. I found when I was practicing and the backing was Muslin I had a hard time moving the fabric...Didn't have a problem with cotton...
Has anyone bought and used these teflon pieces you attach to the bed of your machine to eliminate the friction which glides your fabric easier...I see the Supreme Glider on the Eleanor Burns website goes for 30.00...Is it worth the investment...Has anyone come up with a home remedy?

I have the glider and I think it makes a big difference in how easily the fabric moves when FMQ. I know it doesn't look like much for the money but it does really deliver on its claims.

I agree. I liked it so much that I invested in the Queen Spreme for when I use my extension table. It's a great product. Some people have complained that it slips around, but I have had no problems that way.

I love the Supreme Slider (it's made of silicone). It's worth every penny. And you can iron applique with it too as the silicone won't melt under the heat of an iron. Pretty cool!

At the risk of looking silly ... is there a difference between this an a silpat sheet that you use in the bottom of a cookie sheet? They are both silicone sheets. Not sure if there is a price difference - but I have noticed kitchen / quilting crossover products and the quilting products are usually pricier!

The slider is much thinner I believe and has a "sticky" side that adheres to your machine bed. But, I think some folks have bought these baking sheets to try....

I use Teflon baking sheets (I have the original Slider that doesn't have a tacky back.) and tape them down with painter's tape in addition to the original Slider. Maybe it is the type of baking sheets but they are much more slippery than the slider. I found them on ebay and bought 5 for less than $20 a few years ago when the slider first came out.
