What a great Mom! I get tired of the little circles on my fabric when I'm fusing. My husband may be getting a hint.

I miss the old, heavy irons. Wish I could find one. They iron so much better than today's irons. The only thing I like about newer irons is the automatic shutoff. I am really paranoid about leaving an iron on.

Happy Birthday and enjoy your new iron, Mom's are pretty great !!

My youngest daughter bought me one from an antique store. It has no holes in the bottom and is wonderful to use with Wonder Under as it doesn't get those little bubbles when ironed with the smooth soleplate.

I started using a dry iron when I got the smaller version just to press open seams. Was amazed at how much better the pressing is than when I used the old iron (I never use steam). But I can see what you mean about the holes being a problem. Even my travel iron does a better job. You will like it a lot.

I really appreciate the discussion here about the advantages of dry irons, and no doubt at least a few others are benefiting, too. Thanks!!

Yall are talking about a dry iron is that like a travel iron?

I hate the steam iron I have. It can also be used without steam. It has auto shut off. If I look away or don't use it for 30 seconds, it shuts off. Pain in the petutie when trying to iron seams. Was using it once while trying to just iron DH shirt and it even shut off. Going to get me a dry iron and be done with it.

Happy birthday a bit early! Congrats on the great gift! I'd like to know where your mom got that dry iron. I have been looking for a good one, and not finding much.
