Sweet 16 Tension Upgrade

If I remember correctly someone here on the board purchased a used Sweet 16 and then upgraded the upper thread tension system. I would like to know more about it.

It's possible they added the Easy Set Tension to their sweet.

Please tell me more about this HCarpanini ...
.... I have a S16, but am obviously behind on what is possible.

I have the HQ Fushion and upgraded my tension to the one with the digital readout (easy set). It was a whole new tension assembly so really easy to screw the old one out and put the new one in, and then hook up the power leads and sticky tape the readout to the front of the machine. The tension assembly isn't really any different it just has the sensor. You set it the same as the old one by turning it, but you know if you are going the correct way and how much.

It's been a live saver for me, I never could get a good feel for setting tension without it. BTW - there are no hard numbers to go by, you learn what works for your machine. I've read many people use settings in the 300-400 range but on mine they read 500-700 range. I know my tension is not tighter, it's just how the gauge reads.

Here's a link: https://handiquilter.me/product/easy-set-tension/ My Avante' has it already built-in, and I love it.

Thanks QuiltedSunshine and MacyBaby for the link and description.

However, is this for the Sweet 16 though?
In the write up, it lists the machines, and generalizes as for "stand up machines",
yet the Sweet is a sit-down.

It certainly looks like it would be a good addition, giving a # to monitor to.

you can get the tension upgrade for the Sweet16 sit down. It gives a digital readout that really helps speed things up when adjusting tension. Like MacyBaby explained above.

QuiltE: The Sweet 16 is the same head as a Simply 16. The difference is that it in a table instead of a frame.

Is the Easy Set Tension something I can install myself?

Grannies G 11-28-2018 08:46 AM

Thanks for all the responses I did see a YouTube video on installing the easy set tension yes we can do it ourselves it is pretty simple. The price is about $200. A bit steep but I am seriously considering it. Again thank you all for the comments.
