Sweet Old Quilt- Has Anyone Seen This Pattern?

This is one of my snuggle quilts. I wish you could see the detail of the hand quilting.
I don't remember where I got it but I love it.
The petals are appliqued onto the stars.

Here's a closer look.
Darn, it's small. Sorry.

Are the petals dimensional/folded or simply appliqued?

I think that was one of the Mountain Mist patterns included with their battings, or one of the newspaper column patterns. I'll have to do a bit of looking but I bet we can figure this out.

One of my friends has a really great quilt book that is divided into shapes, I typically have to go page by page through my books and hope to stumble on what I'm looking for.

They're dimensional.

It may be Dahlia Star pattern.

Beautiful quilt. It does look like the Dahlia Star that Tartan suggested.

It was published in the Kansas City Star in 1932 called “Golden Glow”. The pattern is also in Encyclopedia of Classic Quilt apatterns and in there it is called “ Kansas Sunflower “.i am currently making one using 30’s reproduction fabrics.

Sharon, that's adorable! I do love my quilt. It's sweet and cozy.

Susie, I think your quilt is gorgeous. I can see a lot of the hand quilting. Whomever did it was fantastic.

Suzie, the quilt is very pretty. When I first saw it, I thought "I have never seen a pattern like that". I had no clue about the name. And then to have someone else on the board be making it and see the post....How amazing is that???

Look for Moda pattern called “Urban Cowgirl”. Looks just like your quilt and I am pretty sure it was free.

No matter how obscure the question someone on this board can find out. You guys rock! :)

Susie, it is a lovely quilt!

Luvstoquilt, I have a copy of that pattern too. Please remember to share your finished quilt with us!

There's something about the old quilts with all that gorgeous hand quilting that just begs to be snuggled in :)
But I started my quilting journey as a hand quilter so I'm always attracted to them.

I love the way they put this quilt together. Thanks for the mentioning it. Just goes to show that even the old comes back around and is re-invented especially in quilting.
The link if anyone wants to check it out. http://www.unitednotions.com/fp_urban-cowgirl.pdf

Thanks for the link... Wow, that a lot of 3-dimensional petals!

Thank you QuiltnNan

Such a sweet quilt! I can see why you love to snuggle with it!
The original pattern looks fiddly...I would be tempted to make flying geese stars and applique petals on top of them.
Sharon, your quilt will be gorgeous. Looks like a sunflower, 😁

I have seen a similar quilt like what you have in a quilt show. It was made by the Amish and it was beautiful. I knew someone on this board would come thru for you. They are so helpful and great detectives.

OH I love this!! My sister and I are in the process of repairing our quilts just like this!! Our grandmother made seven or eight of these for all her grandchildren and our mother... and maybe another (we’ve lost track)... Anyway, we are thrilled to discover the name of this pattern and plan to add labels to our quilts! Thank you!!
