Well, it looks more like a stool to me. I haven't been able to quit thinking about it since sitting on one last week while looking for a office chair for my daughter.

The Swopper is a German design, with a convex seat. It moves somewhat like a pogo stick: up and down, side to side, etc. It does away with static posture since it keeps you in motion a lot. The seat promotes proper posture. Because you are moving on it alot, it helps to increase core and back strength.

I was amazed how comfortable I was on it, despite the notion that it looks silly. I would love to hear from anyone who has actually used one for more than a couple of minutes.

I've never seen one before but can't help thinking they are not quite right for bar chairs lol

It would be easier to balance on than one of those excercise balls :D:D:D I will have to look for one of these and try it out!!!

That's what I thought...I laughed when I first saw it, then I sat on it, and wow, it was amazingly comfortable. I found it at an ergonomic place, "Relax the Back"

It sure would be great if it really does this!

The other name of that chair is probably "don't drink and sew" lol It seems to be like one of those exercise balls on a stick. Great for posture and building abdominal muscles while you sit.

Perhaps something could be embroidered on the seat cover, a warning sign!
:-D

Can you imagine using a treadle with this chair? What a workout!

Oklahoma Suzie 04-27-2010 06:48 PM

I have never seen one before.

Oh my! I would have to visit my DO for a treatment for sure or be laid up for a week!

Hm, wasn't there a fitness guru who had one of those push-me-pull me riders? I think the motion would be similar.

Cute, but my chair is in front of a picture window in a room with wood floors. Great for cleaning up, but sometime I am going to back right out the window. I would probably kill my self in that chair. Would like to see one though.

I can just picture me sitting on it with my vertigo. NOT! I'd fall off of it!

Here's a pic of what it looks like with someone sitting on it, with a pretty good posture.

Lady Tapioca 04-28-2010 06:55 AM

Do you think your back would ache without the support behind you?

AtHomeSewing 04-28-2010 07:04 AM

I think the idea is that the back and core muscles get stronger. If it really does do that, I would love to use one while on the internet.

It sure would be good to do a little toning with all the sitting we do surfing and sewing!

jdavis 04-28-2010 09:11 AM

Does it come with wheels?

ann clare 04-28-2010 10:52 AM

I would need back support
