Sylvia's Bridal Sampler - Loyal Union Sampler - help please ?

Hi - is anyone making a Sylvia's Bridal Sampler or Loyal Union Sampler, both by Jennifer Chiaverini ?

I am making both quilts and I am NEARLY there !!!!

My question is - what width sashing has anyone used ?

With grateful thanks,
Dot in England, UK.

How large are you blocks?? The sashing appears to be very narrow, maybe 1/4" or 1/2" wide if the blocks are small like Dear Jane.

Thank you for replying. The blocks are 6 inch - Dear Jane was 4 1/2 inches. At least I won't have the triangles to add - as in my DJ.
I thought to cut 1 inch for a 1/2 " finish.
Thanks again.

My blocks are 6", sashing is 1 1/4" finished. Sorry I can't get picture to load. I set my blocks on point. You can try looking under Pictures, "I Envy Sylvia".

Oops! Picture did load.

This is my Sylvia's bridal sampler, my sashing is 1 1/2" cut, so 1" finished.

Melissa, gorgeous quilt!

I'm still working on blocks, but I plan on doing 1" finished sashing. Will use a white or a light print-not sure yet. Backgrounds are lights and whites in my blocks. :)

Thanks so much for your kind replies. WOW Melissa - your quilt is stunning and love your log cabins around the edge.

I have decided and will cut 1 1/2 " strips and finish at 1".
Thanks again.

gramajo,
I LOVE your quilt. I'm always drawn to the white/ivory backgrounds. Your other colors just look lovely!

Melissa,
Yours is very pretty too! It's amazing how different a quilt looks with different background colors. I'm currently making a quilt with charcoal background and sashing, I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Regards,
Kif

My LQS did this as a BOW. We received 2 blocks and fabric each week. Colors choices were pastels or darker/brighter fabrics. Usually I lean toward brighter colors but I'm glad I did this in pastels. We did not make all the blocks in the book so it is smaller. I like my quilts to be different from others so put 4 blocks together, sashed them and set on point.
Thank you, Dottie D and kiffie.

Absolutely stunning. I like how you put 4 blocks together in the first quilt and then sashed them.

gramajo, I absolutely love your pastel, mostly, blocks and your quilt is a joy to behold.

Yooper32 02-21-2016 07:28 AM

Melissa, that is one monumental quilt you have constructed, and a real beauty too. How long did it take for you to complete all of those blocks?

CMARAS1234 02-21-2016 02:56 PM

did you make the sides not match on purpose like the AMISH do so its not perfect? (log cabin blocks) It is beautiful in black.cmaras1234

Beautiful quilts-love them both-the black is absolutely awesome.
